COVENANT
LEADERSHIP

Our School Board

Covenant Christian School is led by ____ and governed by our School Board—a group of individuals volunteering their time for the oversight and wellbeing of our school.

The Board meets regularly each month to oversee school committees, debrief classroom observations, discuss how to best support teachers/staff, and more. In time of crisis or emergency, special meetings may be called in addition to the regularly scheduled monthly meeting.

We are so grateful for our School Board! Thank you for showing patience and grace to them and we would encourage any questions or comments to be directed to their Board email.

❋ Meeting Structure

School board meetings follow the agenda below:

  • Prayer

  • Attendance

  • Approval of meeting notes

  • Discussion of any correspondence to the Board

  • Reports by Head of School, Finances, Committee Activity, Current Business and Consideration of New Business

  • Adjournment

❋ Questions or Concerns for the Board

Please direct questions and concerns to the Board at board@covenantchristian.school.

Messages are monitored by the Board President & Vice President. If issues arise that should require the attention of the whole board, the Board President is responsible for notifying and/or inviting feedback from the other members. In cases of concerns, questions, or complaints raised about staff or faculty, we will reinforce CCS’s organization chart according to which parents need to be in touch with the teacher or staff person directly, then the administration, and the Board of Trustees as a final step of action.

❋ What does being a Board member involve?

Board members meet regularly to oversee the school committees and visit the school monthly to encourage staff and see the education of students first hand. These monthly visits are documented and discussed at the next board meeting. During a crisis or emergency, special meetings may be called in addition to the monthly Board meeting. fficers hold an additional required responsibility to attend the monthly Executive Committee Board Meeting.

The Board also conducts the annual parent and staff surveys, as well as an evaluation for the Head of School. Survey results, as well as other data such as test scores and enrollment, are analyzed for the purpose of an annual review and assessment of the Head of the School.

Following the Corrective Action Plan of the school, Board members are also required to serve as a witness in meetings that have reached level 3 with staff members or parents.

❋ How are Board members elected?

Excerpt from the Constitution Article VI pt 2. “Candidates for each Board vacancy  must be approved by the Board. Candidates for the Board should ordinarily have served on a Covenant Christian School committee during the past year or have experience on a  committee or board of another school affiliated with Christian Schools International. Candidates should ordinarily have their eligible children attending Covenant Christian School.”

The election of board members is conducted by secret ballot at the annual school association meeting.
